Myself (Jackie McCarthy-Booth) and my daughter (Jemma McCarthy) live in Leyland, Lancashire and were granted the Kennel Club Jarhiba affix in 1997.  I have had all sorts of dogs during my life and been involved with breeding and showing for some years. I began showing with Staffordshire Bull Terriers and was lucky enough to make up my first bitch to a Champion (Eilsteve Bella) in the 1970's.  In 1996 our foundation bitch Sally (Saragwe Sunny Dream in Jarhiba) came to our family to be joined by Jay (Tshaka Top Notch in Jarhiba) in 1997.  What a pair they were, greatly admired in our area  and all our ridgebacks are the descendents of Sally.

We only breed the occasional litter after a lot of searching for the right dog to suit our girls.  We try to be critical and improve our stock whilst paying attention to the correct type, soundness and most of all temperament before using a stud dog.  We would all like to breed the perfect Ridgeback but nobody has yet done !!

In the Summer of 2009 we were joined Anna, a Black and Tan Cocker Spaniel puppy and 4 months later by Warrick, a Blue Roan Cocker puppy. They play with Hope and Shula all day before falling asleep all snuggled up together.
